Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position
$17.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
BASIC FUNCTION:
To provide daily support to address food insecurity of area residents/shoppers through Operation Pantry and /or other community partner initiatives. Ensure staff are arriving and departing the work location in a safe environment, reporting questionable activity by calling 911 and alerting supervisor. While assisting Operation Pantry shoppers filling their orders, monitor behavior for appropriateness to ensure staff and other shoppers are safe and not at risk. Work cooperatively with staff to ensure shoppers have positive experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the processing of information to and from various programs and customers/clients, which results in providing customers/clients with different types of basic needs by utilizing the HOW CAN WE HELP YOU form. Daily intake and outreach are the process by which this assistance is accomplished.
- Pick up various food products at participating community partners’ locations.
- Keep the food pantry organized and stocked, which results in providing customers with essential food necessary based upon family size and/or 3-day supply, and to quickly determine the types of food needed for restocking.
- Check with shoppers regarding food allergies.
- As food items are received, stock shelves in the FIFO method with each item stocked according to the food item.
- Conduct inventory of the pantry on a weekly basis, which results in knowing weekly the needs of pantry and what to request or order. Prepare list showing each item that is either low or depleted is how this is accomplished.
- Price and total all donated food items for each donor, which results in a fair value of the food donated and the donors receiving an accurate value of the contribution. Accomplishment of this task is by donations being kept separate, priced and then sorted based on the food item.
- Maintain proper refrigeration and freezer temperatures in accordance with monthly requirements.
- Prepare weekly and monthly statistics for reports when necessary, which results in the timely submission of reports
- Collect data on a daily by using the required shopper intake form.
- Remove trash and cardboard promptly and as necessary to avoid accumulation and unsanitary condition.
- Report any issues with community partners and/or vendors to supervisor immediately.
- Monitor the parking lot area as staff arrive and depart from the work location to ensure safety, and call 911 as necessary.
- Use agency van to pick up donations as needed.
- Perform other Agency related activities as assigned.
Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Must have at least 2 years of experience in community related activities, and experience in a basic inventory system, desired. Complete Agency safe driving course. Experience or training in the safety/security area preferable.
