What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professor of Business position at New Mexico Junior College?

This position is responsible to the Dean of Career & Technical Education. Duties and responsibilities shall be, but not limited to, the following:


  • Teach courses in the Business department each fall and spring semester (day, evening, and online) as enrollment requires;
  • Achieve and maintain a high level of competency as a teacher of students, demonstrating growth in the knowledge of his/her particular subject matter field(s) and in the ability to direct the learning processes;
  • Participate in college service through standing committees;
  • Serve as an advisor to assigned students;
  • Hold posted and approved office hours per week;
  • Participate in in-service meetings/workshops, orientation, and commencement as scheduled;
  • Maintain accurate student records;
  • Participate in a process of continual personal and professional improvement;
  • Actively participate in the general recruitment and retention of students for the institution;
  • Participate in course, departmental, and institutional assessment as required;
  • Assume other professional responsibilities associated with the position of Professor of English;
  • Actively participate in the institutional goals and objectives designed to support the mission of the college;
  • Follow all policies and procedures of NMJC as published by the Faculty Handbook, college catalog, and current contract;
  • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.

Qualifications

A Master's in Business or related degree required. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution. Experience teaching Business courses is preferred, as well as successful community college teaching experience. Applicant must be committed to excellence in instruction and willing to work as a team with other full-time divisional instructors and staff. NOTE: Computer proficiency is required. Teach courses within the business program. Develop new courses/curricula as needed.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

This is a nine-month exempt position. Salary is based on the NMJC faculty salary schedule and is commensurate with education and experience for a nine-month position. Standard benefits apply.

NM Educational Retirement Board As a public educational employee of New Mexico, one of your benefits is a defined benefit pension plan for your retirement. This pension plan ensures you get paid monthly for the rest of your life when you retire! All active NMJC full-time employees must participate as regular members in salary deduction payments as NMERB needs. All earnings shall be subject to retirement withholding. 403(b) Retirement Plan—A 403(b) plan (tax-deferred annuity or TSA) is a retirement plan offered by public schools. This plan lets employees defer some of their salary into individual accounts. All full-time and part-time employees may participate on a salary deduction basis in a 403(b) tax-deferred retirement plan. For more information, contact the Human Resource Office.

Thunderbird Health Center NMJC has entered into a partnership with Nor Lea Hospital to operate the Thunderbird Health Center, ensuring that high-quality healthcare services will be readily accessible to the campus community. The Thunderbird Health Center is available at no cost to NMJC students, faculty, and staff. Participants will not need insurance to access limited primary-care services at the Thunderbird Health Center.

Core - Corporate Fitness Membership Annual CORE (Center Of Recreational Excellence) Corporate Membership is for full-time employees and their eligible family members.

Wellness Program (Download PDF reader)NMJC offers a campus Wellness Program to promote individual wellness among members of the campus community through education and prevention. This program requires full-time employees to take ONE (1) hour each week from work to participate in physical activity. To sign up for this program, you must complete the NMJC Wellness Program Participation form and turn it in to the Human Resources Office.

Staff Tuition Waiver - A full-time employee of NMJC, their spouse, and eligible children are entitled to a total of nine (9) credit hours of tuition-free credit courses per semester, including course fees. In addition, a full-time employee of NMJC, their spouse, and eligible children can take (1) community education course/offering at no cost per semester, provided (i) NMJC employed the full-time employee as of the date of registration for such class or classes and (ii) the minimum number of paid enrollees has been attained to offer the class.
A full-time employee of NMJC, their spouse, and eligible children are each entitled to one (1) non-credit workforce training/program per fiscal year, provided: (i) NMJC employed the full-time employee as of the date of registration for such training/program and (ii) the minimum number of paid enrollees has been attained to offer the class.

Salary : $70,669 - $96,354
