- Oversee all aspects of the college’s Education Programs (Early Childhood, Alternative Licensure, etc.).
- Participate in statewide meetings for directors of education pertinent to NMJC programs.
- Responsible for maintaining national accreditation for continued licensure eligibility in New Mexico.
- Responsible for all required state and federal reports for education programs.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, NMPED requirements, CAEP accreditation, and federal mandates.
- Serve as custodian of all education program records in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines, laws, statutes, and directives.
- Develop new licensure pathways and update current curriculum and pathways in accordance with NMPED requirements and recommendations.
- Recruit and advise students in the education programs.
- Teach education courses (up to 6 credit hours) each fall/spring semester, as needed.
- Supervise education faculty (full and part-time) including annual evaluations.
- Fulfill institutional service requirements by actively participating on working committees as assigned.
- Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various College activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
- A Bachelor’s degree in the field of education is required. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
- A Master’s degree in the field of education is preferred.
- Professional experience in a supervisory position and/or working with the NMPED licensure bureau is desirable.
- Previous experience teaching education courses at the college level is preferred.
- The successful candidate must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NMPED licensure regulations, CAEP accreditation standards, and federal reporting mandates.
- Ability to develop, align, and update higher education curriculum to meet state and institutional pathways.
- Strong supervisory and evaluative skills to lead, mentor, and manage full-time and part-time education faculty.
- Excellent student-facing skills to effectively recruit, advise, and teach a diverse population of aspiring educators.
- Demonstrated organizational and academic record-keeping proficiency to maintain strict compliance and program confidentiality.
