Department of Health is in the process of upgrading the Electronic Health Record (EHR) System across the various Hospital Facilities operated by the State. This enterprise solution implementation incorporates a technology upgrade in addition to a functional upgrade of the EHR system currently being used at the Facilities.
Why does the job exist?
This is an INTERN position so as to provide students an exposure to the various Verification and Validation techniques used at the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH).
The Interning student will learn about IT Business Analyst, such as:
Key responsibilities are -
Customers are
Ideally the student should be from one of the following education streams
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university OR completion of at least four (4) semesters (or equivalent) at an accredited college or university within the last two (2) years.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. It will involve attending meetings on the Web with access to Video cameras. Taking notes during meetings and documenting the findings during the Requirements Gathering sessions.

- Requirements Gathering with Business Users
- Translating Business Requirements to Technical Requirements
- Liaison between Business and Technical Teams
- Documentation skills
Key responsibilities are -
- Participate in Requirements Gathering Sessions
- Study the Product support documentation
- Participate in Software Testing, and cross checking them with the requirements
- Participate in the creation of Business Requirements specification document
Customers are
- The Clinical Team in the various departments at the NMDOH Facilities
- The Facilities IT Support team
Ideally the student should be from one of the following education streams
- Communications degree with IT or Computer Engineering or Healthcare Management
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university OR completion of at least four (4) semesters (or equivalent) at an accredited college or university within the last two (2) years.
