The Communicable Disease Bureau (CDB) within the Center for Healthy and Safe Communities (CHSC) oversees programs to respond to common infectious diseases including HIV, STD, hepatitis and TB, while also providing services for child and adult immunization/vaccination and refugee health. A number of programs are partially funded with grants from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) including HIV prevention, STD, hepatitis, TB and immunization. The bureau sets policies and clinical protocols and manages contracts to reduce the spread of communicable disease across New Mexico.

This position will generate and process financial requests/transactions, advise management regarding fiscal matters, and provide administrative support to the Immunization Program, involving accounts receivables/payables, procurement, travel requests, financial audits, posting of revenue, and maintenance of financial records.

Ideal Candidate
High School diploma or Equivalency and six (6) months experience in bookkeeping, office administration, auditing, accounting, and/or finance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
Office setting, exposure to VDT, extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must have valid NM driver's license and certification of Defensive Driving training after hire.

How does it get done?
- Process purchase orders for procurement of services, goods, and travel for the programs needs. Track the purchase orders for approval status and confirmation of receipt.
- Process payment vouchers for reimbursement of timely payments to vendors and employees.
- Maintain Financial Documents by fiscal year for audit purposes to be in compliance with policy and procedure guidelines from State Records and Archives as well as the Federal Grant Award from CDC.
- Monitor ongoing encumbrances on SHARE Financials and reconciling of vouchers submitted.

Ideal Candidate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in financial accounting functions including accounts payable and purchase order processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and the Statewide Human Resources Accounting and Reporting Financial Module (SHARE)
