What we are hiring for:
New Land Property Management, LLP is hiring a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will support the full accounting cycle across our mixed-use residential and commercial portfolio, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely close processes, and compliance with company policies and GAAP standards.
The Staff Accountant serves as a key member of the accounting team, contributing to financial accuracy, long-range planning support, and ongoing problem-solving.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience; property management or real estate preferred
- Solid Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience in property accounting software (Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or similar) is a plus
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries, accruals, and adjust entries for assigned residential and commercial properties
- Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor invoices, tenant billing, and lease charge-backs
- Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for property owners and internal leadership
- Assist with CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and commercial tenant billing calculations
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with Property Managers
- Support internal and external audit requests by providing documentation and analysis
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Respond to inquiries from Property Managers, owners, and vendors regarding financial transactions and reporting
- Perform other duties as assigned
