The Senior Safety Leader is responsible for architecting, leading, and continuously advancing a comprehensive, enterprise-wide safety program spanning office, plant, and field operations. This role establishes and embeds standardized policies, governance frameworks, and performance metrics that drive consistency, accountability, and operational excellence across all regions.This leader proactively identifies, assesses, and mitigates risk through the implementation of forward-looking safety strategies, data-driven insights, and scalable prevention programs. Working in close partnership with Operations, HR, Legal, and Finance, the Senior Safety Leader ensures alignment between safety initiatives and broader business objectives, workforce strategy, and contractual obligations.The role provides executive oversight of incident management, regulatory compliance, and audit functions, while serving as the primary liaison to insurance carriers, brokers, and other external stakeholders to optimize risk transfer and reduce total cost of risk. In addition, the Senior Safety Leader champions a culture of safety ownership and continuous improvement by driving innovation, leveraging technology, and fostering meaningful workforce engagement at all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute a comprehensive, enterprise-wide safety strategy across office, plant, and field operations
- Develop, standardize, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and governance frameworks across all regions
- Establish and monitor leading and lagging KPIs (TRIR, DART, EMR, near misses, severity rates) and deliver regular executive reporting
- Identify high-risk activities and implement proactive mitigation strategies, including pre-task planning and risk assessments
- Drive a culture of prevention through near-miss reporting, hazard identification, and behavioral-based safety programs
- Oversee incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and timely closure of corrective actions
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations; lead internal audit programs
- Serve as primary liaison with insurance carriers, brokers, and underwriters; support renewals, analyze loss trends, and reduce total cost of risk
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, HR, Legal, and Finance to align safety with business objectives and contractual requirements
- Lead development and delivery of safety training, onboarding, and ongoing workforce engagement initiatives
- Evaluate and implement safety technologies, systems, and data analytics tools to improve reporting and predictive risk management
- Conduct industry benchmarking and lead continuous improvement initiatives to advance safety performance
- Manage the safety budget and allocate resources based on operational risk and project pipeline
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Construction, or related field
- 10–15 years of safety leadership in construction, manufacturing, or similar industries
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and multi-state compliance
- Experience with enterprise safety programs, risk management, and insurance coordination
- Proven ability to analyze data, lead investigations, and influence cross-functional teams

- Capable of working in construction and plant environments with required PPE
