Department: Dining Services
Reports To: Director of Dining Services

PURPOSE
The Lead Dietary Aide at Cherry Brook HCC plays a vital role in delivering high-quality meal service to residents in our skilled nursing facility. The primary purpose of the position is to support the Director of Dining Services by coordinating daily operations, mentoring dietary aides, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. The Lead Dietary Aide helps create a positive dining experience that promotes resident satisfaction, dignity, and nutritional well-being.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Supervision
- Assist in scheduling and assigning duties to dietary aides.
- Train new staff and provide ongoing guidance and support.
- Monitor performance and provide feedback to team members.
Meal Service & Preparation
- Ensure timely and accurate meal delivery according to resident dietary needs and preferences.
- Assist with food preparation, tray assembly, and sanitation.
- Maintain portion control and presentation standards.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations including DOH and CMS guidelines.
- Monitor food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
- Participate in audits and inspections as needed.
Resident Interaction
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with residents.
- Respond to resident concerns or requests regarding meals and service.
- Promote a pleasant dining atmosphere.
Inventory & Supplies
- Monitor stock levels and report needs to the Director.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Lift up to 25–50 lbs.
- Perform repetitive tasks such as bending, reaching, and carrying trays.

Knowledge about laws and regulations relating to job responsibilities, e.g., EEO, OSHA, patient rights, fraud/abuse laws.

Reports suspected violations of federal and state laws and any types of misconduct to facility administrator, or other appropriate staff member.
Salary : $20 - $22
