Responsibilities
- Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions, utilizing your lived experience to inspire hope and recovery.
- Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management to de-escalate situations and ensure client safety.
- Deliver behavioral health counseling using evidence-based approaches such as motivational interviewing to motivate clients toward positive change.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to develop personalized recovery plans and document progress within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems accurately.
- Assist clients in developing coping skills, relapse prevention strategies, and social skills to promote long-term sobriety.
- Engage in ongoing mentoring activities, fostering trust and empowering clients to take active roles in their recovery process.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision to enhance skills related to addiction counseling, social work practices, and crisis management.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Peer Specialist with specialized training or experience in Addictive Disease (CPS-AD).
- Lived experience with substance use recovery that aligns with the principles of peer support.
- Knowledge of behavioral health, mental health counseling techniques, and addiction recovery processes.
- Strong skills in crisis intervention and crisis management to handle emergency situations effectively.
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients in their recovery journey.
