Cherry Brook Health Care Center, a division of New Horizons, Inc., is a 100 bed skilled nursing facility located in Canton, CT.

PURPOSE OF YOUR POSITION:
The primary purpose of your position is to perform clerical support in an efficient manner as the receptionist in the lobby of our health center.
- Operate telephone switchboard.
- Utilize proper phone etiquette.
- Receive and direct all persons entering the facility to appropriate areas.
- Responsible for general typing and secretarial functions.
- Is responsible to receive and direct incoming mail and deliveries appropriately.
- Contribute to and promote resident and family relations.
- Knowledgeable in facility’s Privacy Practice and complies by protecting all residents’ health information.
- Demonstrate leadership skills.
- Knowledge about laws and regulations relating to job responsibilities, e.g., EEO, OSHA, patient rights, fraud/abuse laws.
- Required documentation/record keeping is accurate, complete and timely.
- Reports suspected violations of federal and state laws and any types of misconduct to facility administrator, or other appropriate staff member.
EXPERIENCE:
Customer service experience, strong computer and phone system skills; Must have a working knowledge of filing and respect for confidentiality.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and to remain calm during emergencies.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
- Must be knowledgeable of administrative practices, procedures and guidelines.
- Must possess a cheerful personality and be ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Is knowledgeable of all office equipment.
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel.
- Must be able to lift and move equipment, supplies, etc., without restriction.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
