Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Site Manager or Practice Manager, the Spanish Language Liaison is responsible for assisting Spanish speaking patients with appointments, non-clinical customer service interactions with the lab and pharmacy, and general assistance to the Practice Manager or Site Manager. The Spanish Language Liaison is not a medical interpreter, and this employee is not qualified for nor should they be asked to assist anyone with medical interpretation. The Spanish Language Liaison interacts with patients/visitors in a courteous, appropriate, respectful manner at all times. This position performs the following duties in accordance with the established policy and procedures of New Horizon Family Health Services to assist Spanish-speaking patients.

DUTIES PERFORMED
- Offers general assistance to employees and patients through facilitating communication in Spanish
- Refers employees or patients to a medical interpreter to assist with any medical interpretation
- Screens voicemails or incoming telephone calls, takes messages, transfers calls, or records received information accurately and distributes messages to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
- Assists with efficient patient flow by navigating patients to the appropriate location.
- Assists PSRs during the check-in process for Spanish speaking patients
- Schedules appointments, makes patient appointment reminder calls, and retrieves medical records, as needed.
- Assists with non-clinical customer service interactions with the lab and pharmacy
- Notifies members of management of suspicious activity observed in or around Center property.
- Maintains a neat/well-organized work area.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Site Manager / Practice Manager, NCSSD, CMO, CEO or designee in their absence.
Education
- Required:
- A minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Proficiency in oral and written Spanish and English language skills
- Preferred:
- two (2) years of experience in a medical office, and
- working knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Must have a working knowledge of computer programs and professional construction of sentences in Spanish and English
- Has ability to speak and communicate effectively with co-workers, patients and the public.
- Must have the physical capacity to perform required tasks.
- Has pleasant personality, pleasing, professional appearance and disposition.
