Overview

Charis Academy is the only full-time Christian Madanrin immersion School in
Upstates SC to students from K4 through G5, We serve a culturally and linguistically diverse student population from the surrounding communities. Students are immersed in Mandarin/ Spanish Chinese while learning through a hands-on, inquiry-based curriculum. Formal English instruction starts in first grade. Charis Academy is accredited by the Grace Association of Private Schools.

The school seeks a highly motivated and dedicated English teacher for the next academic year with a strong sense of responsibility who also demonstrates Christ-like characteristics to be a good model in the classroom. About the role of Elementary K4 - 5 Mandarin Teacher (Part-Time / Full Time)

As a Mandarin/ Spanish teacher for the / 4K-5/ Primary Years Program (PYP) program, you will be part of the English department and work with the 4K - 5 / PYP Chinese homeroom teacher(s) for the transdisciplinary units. The ideal candidate should have a broad knowledge of various disciplines, such as Social studies, Math, Science, and Music.

The candidate should be organized, and patient, have strong collaboration skills, and possess a passion for education and for working with elementary students. The candidate should be proactive, self-directed, and an excellent communicator. The candidate should partner with the school community to create a Christian school culture that values diversity, excellence,

integrity, and compassion according to biblical principles. The candidate should be highly capable to build a curriculum, write lesson plans and adhere to assessments together with the 4K- 5/ PYP team.

Requirements:

• Required: BA and/or MA degree(s) in English and/or Education/ or relevant disciplines of studies
• Required: Legal status for working in the USA
• Required: Ability to meet the school’s standards for World Languages/ English language arts which will comprise the SC standards, IB PYP standards, and also Montessori standards on a hands-on inquiry base. curriculum.

• Required: Computer skills
• Preferred: Experience in teaching at Montessori schools is a plus

• Preferred: A valid SC state teaching certification
• Preferred: Experience teaching in bilingual schools or Chinese immersion schools

Package:

A part-time position is paid at the hourly rate of $10 - $15 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Benefits are provided including medical, dental, vision, and 401k (Full-Time position only). Professional development throughout the year is required.
