Charis Bilingual Academy is the only full-time Christian Mandarin English bilingual K - 6 school in Upstates SC to students from K4 through G5, We serve a culturally

and linguistically diverse student population from the

surrounding communities. Students are immersed in Mandarin Chinese and English while

learning through a hands-on, inquiry-based curriculum. Formal English instruction

starts in Kindergarten. Charis Biblingual Academy is a fully accredited by the Grace Association of Private Schools.

About the role of Chinese Teacher (Part-Time / Full Time)

As a Chinese Teacher 4K-5/ Primary Years Program (PYP) program, you will be part of the Chinese6 department and work with the 4K - 6 / PYP Chinese homeroom teacher and K - 12 Lead Music

teacher(s) for the transdisciplinary units. The ideal candidate should have a broad

knowledge of various disciplines, such as Social studies, Math, Science, and Music.

The candidate should be organized, and patient, have strong collaboration skills, and possess a

passion for education and for working with elementary students. The candidate should be

proactive, self-directed, and an excellent communicator. The candidate should partner with

the school community to create a Christian school culture that values diversity, excellence,

integrity, and compassion according to biblical principles. The candidate should be highly capable to build a curriculum, write lesson plans and adhere to assessments together with the 4K- 5/ PYP team.

The Chinese teacher will be also responsible for other duties assigned by the head teacher to promote and enhance the school operation for some office/ front desk work.

Requirements:

• Required: BA and/or MA degree(s) in English and/or Education/ Music Education or relevant disciplines of studies
• Required: Legal status for working in the USA
• Required: Ability to meet the school’s standards for World Languages/ English language arts/ Music education standards which will comprise the SC standards, IB PYP standards, and also Montessori standards on a hands-on inquiry base.

Package:

A part-time position is paid at the hourly rate of $15 - $20 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
