Position Overview
New Hope is seeking a motivated and service-oriented Auxiliary Coordinator & Lead Pricing Associate to support the daily operations of the Carroll Bargain Shoppe. This role is responsible for coordinating volunteer services, leading product pricing, and helping maintain an inviting, well-organized retail environment that reflects New Hope’s mission.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with volunteers and the public, has strong organizational skills, and brings a positive, team-focused approach to retail and community service.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer & Program Coordination

Recruit, schedule, orient, and supervise Bargain Shoppe and Coffee Shoppe volunteers.

Oversee volunteer applications and conduct annual evaluations; submit documentation in a timely manner.

Recruit, manage, and schedule ABLE Trainees.

Maintain a welcoming and organized volunteer break room; coordinate supplies as needed.

Build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, donors, and customers.
Retail Operations & Customer Service

Lead pricing of donated merchandise and ensure adherence to New Hope’s pricing structure.

Maintain a visually appealing, clean, and orderly sales floor and checkout area.

Monitor inventory levels, rotation systems, and provide quality control.

Operate, troubleshoot, and train volunteers on the iPad cash register system.

Open and close the store as assigned, including cash register closeout and daily deposits.

Protect donor and customer confidentiality at all times.
Events & Organizational Support

Assist with Development Department events, including those involving Carroll store volunteers.

Participate in agency-sponsored events and special project teams.

Foster a culture of trust, teamwork, accountability, and empowerment.
Additional Duties

Stay current on retail sales and pricing trends.

Participate in continuing education, training, and professional development.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
-
Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred: One year of specialized training
Experience
-
Required: At least one year of experience working with volunteers or the public

Preferred: Two years of related experience
Skills & Abilities

Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills

Proficiency with iPad-based POS systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Ability to lift appropriately and move heavy items safely

Organized, proactive, and creative problem-solver

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Special Requirements

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; must be insurable under New Hope’s auto insurance

Flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends for store and development events
