What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Children's Ministry Coordinator position at New Hope Community Church?
Children's Ministry Coordinator - a leader and guide to our church's pre-K-6th grade aged students. Under our Lead Pastor’s supervision, our Children's Ministry Coordinator will oversee, grow, and coordinate the church's children's ministry gatherings. The Children's Ministry Coordinator will strive to make all students understand the journey of our souls, encourage students who are interested in the knowledge of God, and support them to develop their love for Him and for others.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Leading students, ranging in ages 5-11 in religious studies and community building activities on Sunday mornings
-Recruiting, training, coordinating and overseeing a volunteer team
-Curating a program, with the provided curriculum, that effectively ministers to students within this wide range of ages and abilities and consistently reviewing and updating the program and its modalities for the needs of the ministry
-Launching and leading weekly Bible studies, off campus at local schools and on campus.
-Implementing provided curriculum lessons and activities, with some curating of lessons and activities according to the ministry's size and needs
-Coordinating special children's events to reach out to the community and grow the ministry
-Encouraging and facilitating children's involvement in our church community and events
-Promoting program and program events in the community and through social media
-Foster relationships with and amongst the pre-K-6th grade aged students and their families
-Supporting the Youth Ministry (6th-12th grade students) when needed and possible to foster a greater sense of community among all the children and families of New Hope and preparing your students for a transition into the upper class ministry.
To be successful in this position, you need to provide students with a place to belong that gives them the courage to be different and resilient to unhealthy peer pressure and the current worldly culture trends. You will need to mentor students to grow in their relationship with Christ and each other and facilitate their families into biblical counseling with our Lead Pastor, when necessary. Ideal candidates are compassionate, have experience teaching the Bible as well as leading children, have a proficient understanding of the challenges young children face, and an authentic desire to help children grow deeper in their understanding and faith in Jesus Christ.
Set Schedule:
Tuesdays (4hrs)
Weekly Ministry Leadership Meeting
Sundays: (3hrs)
9:30am-10am: Sunday School Prep and Volunteer Check-In
10:30am-Noon: K-5 Sunday School
12pm-12:30pm: Clean Up
Remaining hours are for planning and preparation, to be scheduled at coordinator's discretion but still logged and turned in every pay period.
Mandatory Participation for special events include:
Palm Saturday “Easter Breakfast” Event
“Harvest Festival” Halloween night event
Candlelight Christmas Service (the Tuesday before Christmas)
Vacation Bible School K-5 - Planner and Event Leader (1 week in summer, Mon-Fri morning to afternoon)
Special events and programs planning and execution are expected to incur additional hours and will be paid hourly at regular rate.
Job hours: 10 per week special events
Wage: $22/hour
Background check , fingerprinting and mandatory reporter training, as well as employee training are required for this position, per state law.
