Summary
To provide exceptional customer service in a retail outlet environment by greeting and assisting customers, processing customer purchases, and maintaining alcohol product merchandising in accordance with New Hampshire Liquor Commission rules, policies, and procedures. To learn about store products and inventory to sell and promote them.
Responsibilities
Detailed Tasks (Agency/Position-Specific):
Provides exceptional customer service and strives for excellence when welcoming and assisting customers, building relations, and protecting the NH Liquor Commissions and the State of New Hampshires reputation.
Assists customers by answering questions, helping them locate alcohol products, providing alcohol product advice, recommending alcohol products, and selling alcohol products, lottery sweepstakes, and lottery tickets.
Accepts payments and makes change for customers while operating a cash register, scanner, credit card/debit card terminal, and lottery ticket dispensing machine and properly wraps or bags merchandise for customers following Cash Control and Security policies, processes, and procedures. Verifies the validity of currency and credit card holders as established by NHLC policies and procedures.
Learns and adheres to current laws and Commission policies regulating the sale of alcohol, including the prohibited sales policies; attends yearly Liquor Outlet Training Seminar (LOTS) to achieve and maintain knowledge of current policies, procedures, processes, and laws.
Unloads delivery trucks, arranges and stocks alcohol products, and merchandising displays on the sales floors. Following store and safety procedures maintains a safe, clean, and orderly workplace environment.
Applies appropriate training and protocols to guard against fraudulent or counterfeit payments, observes customer behavior, and verifies purchaser age relative to current laws regulating the sale of alcohol.
Reconciles records of sales or other financial transactions. Assists in the counting of physical inventory.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience: 8th grade education
License/Certification: None
Other Requirements: Must be able to continuously lift material up to 25 pounds, with frequent lifting of cases of alcohol weighing up to 60 pounds.
Must be at least 18 years of age on date of application.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of two years of high school or equivalent, along with six months of experience in positions involving public contact and requiring change-making.
