What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medication Technician / Caregiver position at New Friends Memory Care?
Our community is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented day shift Medication Technician to join our team. This position plays an important role in supporting resident health and wellbeing through safe medication administration, attentive care, and clear communication with the care team.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments to residents as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with applicable regulations and facility protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of medication administration on MARs (Medication Administration Records).
- Observe residents for adverse reactions or side effects and promptly report any changes in condition to the nurse or supervisor.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility as needed.
- Monitor and record vital signs, weights, and other health indicators as directed.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and disposal of medications.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and healthcare providers.
- Participate in care plan meetings and support individualized care strategies.
- Follow community safety policies and infection control procedures.
- Respond to emergencies using appropriate procedures, including CPR, first aid, and contacting emergency services when necessary.
Qualifications
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Complete assigned Oregon Care Partners classes.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate, patient, and team-oriented approach to resident care.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 75–100 lbs as required.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- May be exposed to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
Pay: $18.50 - $23.50 per hour
