Fine Woodworking & Installer Lead
New Energy Works – Farmington, NY
Reports To: Division Manager
We’re looking for an experienced Lead Finisher to join our passionate and creative Fine Woodworking team in Farmington NY.
Role Overview
This role is a hands-on high craft finishing and woodworking opportunity with room to learn and grow within our team. We work on highly custom residential and commercial projects crafting everything from doors, tables, and stairs to cabinets, furniture, and wine rooms.
A successful Lead Finisher will have solid woodworking skills, superior knowledge of finishing materials, techniques, and good eye for detail.
We work both locally and regionally, which can mean occasional travel or longer commutes.
Core Competencies
- Repairing broken parts, removing imperfections, and filling in cracks.
- Removing old finishings and excess solvent.
- Sanding and smoothing the item in preparation for finishing.
- Selecting and applying finishing finishes such as dyes, stains, lacquers and urethanes.
- Booth upkeep and spray equipment maintenance.
- Inspecting products and completing job reports.
Required Experience
- 6-10 years’ experience finishing in a woodworking or finish shop.
- Experience teaching and supervising quality finishing operation.
- Hands-on experience with woodworking tools is a plus.
- Proficiency with high quality wood or metal finishing: 2k Lacquers, European Urethanes, Dye, Stains and glazes and reactive finishes.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Excellent math and problem-solving skills.
- Strong work ethic and exquisite attention to detail.
- Color matching and custom formulation experience with a variety of finishes.
- Top-flight organizational and critical thinking skills.
- A willingness to work under pressure and go the extra mile.
- Experience in Bench Carpentry, Cabinet Making, or Furniture Making is beneficial.
- Background in Fine Arts or Industrial Design.

For Pay Transparency: Compensation Description (annually or hourly): Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.

Salary : $24 - $30
