About the Position:
The Consumer Lending Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the credit union’s consumer lending operations, including loan production, underwriting, processing, funding, portfolio performance, and member experience. This role provides leadership and strategic direction to the consumer lending team while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and supporting the continued growth of the loan portfolio. Product oversight includes Auto Loans, Credit Cards, Personal Loans, and Small Business Lending.
Essential Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the consumer lending team to achieve performance goals and deliver exceptional member service
- Establish clear expectations, KPIs, and productivity standards
- Foster a collaborative, growth-oriented culture focused on operational excellence and member satisfaction
Portfolio & Risk Management
- Oversee the performance and profitability of all consumer lending products
- Monitor delinquency trends, charge-offs, and portfolio risk metrics
- Manage loan quality control processes and audit functions
- Develop and maintain lending policies and procedures to support compliance and operational efficiency
Operational Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day consumer lending workflows and operations
- Ensure timely underwriting, loan closing, and funding processes
- Optimize the use of LOS systems, decision engines, and lending technologies
- Develop and implement new lending programs, products, and process improvements
- Manage third-party vendor relationships, including contract review, negotiation, implementation, and ongoing oversight
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure compliance with all NCUA, federal, and state lending regulations
- Maintain strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to consumer lending oversight
- Stay current on regulatory changes and oversee implementation of updates to ensure safety and soundness
Business Strategy & Growth
- Support the credit union’s strategic lending objectives and growth initiatives
- Analyze market trends and member needs to identify opportunities for program enhancements
- Build strong relationships with members and participate in community engagement activities
- Partner with marketing teams on lending campaigns and product development initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 10 years of consumer lending experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Credit union or financial institution experience strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of consumer lending products, operations, and regulatory requirements
- Experience with LOS platforms, lending technologies, and operational process improvement initiatives
- Proven leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong executive-level presentation and reporting capabilities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Additional Compliance Responsibilities
Employees are expected to support the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies, and related regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include maintaining awareness of suspicious activity relevant to the department and completing all required compliance training, including BSA and OFAC courses, on an annual basis.

Salary : $107,000 - $115,000
