Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of New Directions facilities. This includes upkeep of buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. The position requires proficiency with a variety of trade tools, safe operation of agency equipment, and the ability to respond to emergencies as needed to ensure safe, functional environments across agency properties.

Compensation

$19.42 – $20.60 per hour
Offers based on education and years of relevant experience

Hours/Schedule

Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 6:30 - 3:00p.

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance of grounds, buildings, equipment, plumbing, electrical (120 and 208), HVAC, and physical plant systems

• Repair/install counters, cabinets, doors, flooring, trim, tile, and wall coverings as needed

• Patch and finish wallboard and plaster; paint building interiors and exteriors

• Install glass in windows and doors

• Read and interpret blueprints for project planning and repairs

• Operate agency vehicles and motorized equipment (trucks, tractors, mowers, Bobcat, etc.) safely

• Maintain pool facilities, landscaping, and snow removal (plowing, shoveling, and snow blower use)

• Ensure tools and equipment are in proper working order; maintain cleanliness of work areas

• Perform emergency response and repair duties as required on a 24/7 basis when on-call

• Provide supervisor with an active cell phone number for contact during emergencies

• Attend supervision, mandatory trainings, and maintain certifications as required

• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency in maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades

• Ability to safely operate trade tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment

• Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to respond to emergencies

• Strong teamwork and communication skills

• Ability to work effectively with youth, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds

• Organization and problem-solving skills in maintenance and repair work

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED (required)

• Minimum of one year of field-related experience (preferred)

• Valid driver’s license, adequate auto insurance, and ability to meet agency driving criteria

• Ability to pass an annual physical per agency health policy (Category 2A classification)

• Compliance with agency safety standards and healthy work environment practices
