Prepares financial statements, schedules, and regulatory reports to ensure institutional compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agency requirements. Organizes, analyzes, and presents financial reports and management reports for Finance & Accounting leadership. Assists in the preparation and review of College tax filings and supporting schedules; serves as a liaison for auditors by providing schedules, detailed supporting documentation, and technical explanations during internal and external financial, operational and compliance audits.
- Performs detailed data analysis, calculation, recording, and reporting of interest accruals, tax-related journal entries, construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting, and project and financial aid drawdown activity.
- Prepares and files State Sales Tax and Capital Improvement Trust Fund (CITF) reports and processes associated remittances to the Florida Department of Revenue and the State University System (SUS) Board of Governors (BOG).
- Assists with the preparation, reconciliation, and review of IRS Forms 990, 990-T, F-1120, and Form 1099 filings to ensure compliance with federal reporting requirements.
- Verifies, computes, and provides detailed supporting documentation for the financial data included in the University’s audited financial statements, Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and related footnotes; prepares audit schedules and analyses and responds to State auditor inquiries.
- Assists with and validates Fund/Organization/Account structures within the University’s ERP, ensuring data integrity and alignment with chart of accounts governance standards.
- Assists with institutional budgets by monitoring and review ledger balances, and may include the preparation, validation, and posting of budget journal entries and related adjustments to ensure alignment with approved financial plans and internal controls.
- Prepares, reviews, and posts journal entries, including year-end accruals, reclassifications and interfund transactions.
- Performs ad hoc financial analyses and special projects in support of accounting operations and compliance initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with institutional policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
