Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum

Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students receiving intense intervention services.

Provide differentiated instruction that addresses academic, functional, communication, and social-emotional skills.

Adapt general education curriculum and create modified instructional materials to meet students’ unique needs.

Implement evidence-based instructional strategies to promote independence, mastery of functional skills, and postsecondary readiness.
Classroom & Student Support
-
Establish a structured, supportive, and safe classroom environment that promotes student learning and positive behavior.

Teach and reinforce daily living skills, social interaction skills, and employability skills as appropriate.

Collect, analyze, and maintain student progress data to guide instruction and inform IEP goals.

Provide direct supervision and guidance to paraprofessionals and support staff in the classroom.
Collaboration & Communication

Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, counselors, and other staff to support inclusive practices and student success.

Communicate effectively and regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.

Participate actively in IEP meetings, case conferences, and multidisciplinary team discussions.

Coordinate with outside agencies and transition specialists to plan for postsecondary outcomes.
Professional Responsibilities

Stay current with best practices, instructional strategies, and compliance requirements related to special education and intense interventions.

Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Engage in ongoing professional learning and apply new strategies to improve student outcomes.

Model professionalism, patience, and empathy when working with students, families, and staff.
Qualifications
-
Valid state teaching license with certification in Special Education (Intense Intervention or equivalent).

Experience working with students with significant disabilities preferred.

Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies, assistive technology, and behavioral interventions.

Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all legal and ethical guidelines.
Physical & Environmental Requirements

Ability to lift, move, or assist students as needed.

Capacity to implement physical or behavioral supports in accordance with student plans.
