Primary Purpose:
The Coordinator of Student Services provides leadership, coordination, and support to ensure the effective delivery of student support programs across K–12 campuses. This position works closely with school leaders, counselors, and community partners to promote the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success of all students. Assist with hearing and resolving student and parent complaints.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Masters Degree in Counseling, Educational Administration, Social Work or related field required
Valid Texas Certificate in School Counseling or Administration preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge/experience in crisis prevention/intervention preferred
Understanding of emotional and developmental disorders of childhood
Ability to interpret data from educational evaluations
Strong facilitation and active listening skills
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with other professionals in leadership as well as collaborative roles
Ability to mediate, problem solve, and resolve conflict
Ability to provide staff development training as well as training to parents
Thorough understanding of school operations
Experience:
Minimum of three years’ experience in administration or counseling
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with campus principals and district leadership to develop, implement, and monitor student services programs.
- Collect, assess and analyze individual student and campus information in order to provide resources to campus administrative teams.
- The coordinator ensures compliance with state and federal regulations while supporting the district’s mission to provide safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments.
- Demonstrate knowledge in health services, safety, and counseling programs.
- Facilitate staff development in the student services areas.
- Assist in the development and review of policies and procedures related to student discipline, attendance, mental health services, and crisis response,
- Support campuses in managing critical incidents, including threat assessments, crisis response, and reentry planning.
- Advocate for equitable access to services for students from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities, English learners, and students experiencing homelessness or foster care placement.
- Ensure appropriate documentation and reporting of student support interventions and outcomes.
- The coordinator ensures compliance with state and federal regulations while supporting the district’s mission to provide safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments.”
- Analyze student services data (e.g., attendance, behavior, counseling, safety referrals, health services data) to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and inform decision-making.
- Oversee efforts of Truancy/Attendance Specialists
