Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership, coordination, and support for secondary library programs to ensure equitable
access to instructional resources, compliance with Senate Bill 13, and alignment with district
goals. Serve as the district lead for implementing state-mandated library policies, ensuring
transparency, and maintaining appropriate materials in all secondary campus libraries.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or related field
Valid Texas School Librarian Certificate
Librarian experience at the secondary level preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of Senate Bill 13 and Texas Education Agency (TEA) guidance related to library
materials, review, and transparency.
Familiarity with collection development, cataloging, and digital resource management
Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
Ability to interpret and apply state laws, district policies, and ethical library practices
Proficiency in library management systems and instructional technology
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of secondary library experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Leadership and Compliance:
1. Assist in the implementation of Senate Bill 13 requirements for secondary campuses,
ensuring all library materials and review processes meet state-mandated standards.
2. Help coordinate the library materials review process, including parent access,
transparency postings, and documentation of reconsideration requests.
3. Collaborate with campus librarians to ensure compliance with board-approved policies for
the acquisition, review, and removal of library materials.
4. Serve as the district liaison to the Library Review Committee.
5. Monitor and audit campus library catalogs to ensure accurate labeling, accessibility, and
public transparency.
6. Assist librarians in developing age-appropriate, diverse, and curriculum-aligned
collections while adhering to SB 13 and district policies.

7. Maintain clear and consistent communication with principals, librarians, and district
leaders regarding SB 13 updates and compliance expectations.
8. Regularly review secondary library data to assess compliance and program
effectiveness.
9. Prepare reports and updates for district leadership and the Board of Trustees related to
library compliance and instructional impact.
10. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
