Position Summary:

The Care Director provides strategic leadership, management, and oversight to the Care Department, which includes Counseling Ministry, Health Ministry, and Bereavement Services. The role integrates spiritual care with professional counseling to meet the emotional, mental health, physical health, and spiritual needs of the congregation and community. The omission of specific duties for this position does not exclude them if the work is similar or related. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Counseling Ministry

  • Oversee the Counseling Ministry and all related support groups including but not limited to: Celebrate Recovery, Divorce Care, and Grief Share.
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive counseling programs and services aligning with the church’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide direct counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups addressing emotional, relational, mental health, and spiritual concerns.
  • Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate licensed counselors, counseling interns, and administrative support staff.
  • Coordinate educational workshops, training, seminars, and support groups promoting emotional health, wellness, and spiritual growth.
  • Collaborate closely with ministry leaders to provide holistic care solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, confidentiality standards, and ethical guidelines in counseling practices.
  • Establish community partnerships and referral networks with local mental health agencies, hospitals, and other care providers.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records and reports.
  • Provide crisis intervention and responsive counseling support during church-wide emergencies or critical incidents.
  • Top of the week case reviews with counselors and update Executive Team as requested

Health Ministry

  • Oversee the Health Ministry and ensure comprehensive support for His-Hands Deaf Ministry, Cancer Care Ministry, and Visitation Ministry.
  • Oversee Clinical Lay Staff by ensuring all licensure and certifications remain current and up to date.
  • Lead Community Programs and institute Educational Opportunities that bring awareness and solutions for targeted demographics
  • Maintain professional standards and implement best practices for medical care and crisis intervention services

Bereavement Ministry

  • Provide pastoral care to families during times of critical illness, transition, and death. Develop and implement an effective aftercare program to support grieving families in the weeks and months following a funeral.
  • Oversee the scheduling, planning, and execution of all funeral services held at New Birth.
  • Ensure all bereavement communications, protocols, and processes are handled with compassion, clarity, and professionalism.
  • Provide leadership, training, and development to the Bereavement Staff and Volunteer Teams. Equip bereavement team members—both lay and clergy volunteers—with the tools, resources, and pastoral guidance needed to serve grieving families effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct oversight and supervision of the Counseling Ministry, Health Ministry & Bereavement Services.
  • Evaluate staff and ministry leaders
  • Conduct assessments of processes

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Divinity, Theology or related disciplines.
  • Ministerial Ordination from reputable denomination
  • Active Georgia state licensure as a mental health professional (LPC, LMFT, LCSW) in good standing.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in counseling practice, preferably in faith-based or pastoral counseling environments.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a ministerial role providing pastoral care.
  • Demonstrated leadership, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to integrate clinical counseling expertise with biblical and spiritual principles.
  • Experience supervising professional counseling staff is preferred.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and pastoral care training.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership, staff, and volunteers.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual Salary Range: $60k to $80k Annually
  • Competitive salary or contractual compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits package available for full-time employment.

Work Schedule:

· Position includes varying work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required. Attendance on Sunday and mid-week church services are required.
