Position:

• Payroll Specialist

Summary:

• Under the supervision of the Payroll Supervisor, the payroll specialist will be responsible for overseeing the payroll department in the absence of the Payroll Supervisor as well as perform administrative and clerical duties for the payroll department.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Payroll Supervisor in creating quarterly team objectives
• Serve as a go-to for office inquiries and conflicts
• Knowledge of payroll procedures and policies as well as experience working with union contracts.
• Assist in Developing procedures and policies to increase efficiency within the department
• Generate Payroll Warrant as well as process manual checks and voids when needed.
• Must be able to communicate with the community, staff and team members in a positive and helpful manner.
• Process payroll and attendance on a weekly basis.
• Performs clerical duties such as filing, typing, and copying of documents
• Prepares reports and memorandums
• Report new hires to department of revenue
• Other duties as needed and assigned..

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years’ experience as a Team Leader or Supervisor
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
• Highly organized and flexible
• Ability to multitask and meet changing deadlines
• Must be self-motivated and able to complete projects with limited supervision
• Maintains confidentiality at all times.
• HS diploma/GED required, associate degree in accounting or business a plus
• Experience with payroll processing, computers and payroll software, including MUNIS, Excel, and Microsoft Word preferred.
• Candidate should have strong organizational and verbal communication skills, multi task and the ability to work well with others. Some team Leader or supervisory experience a must.
• Must Detailed oriented, with the ability to meet numerous deadlines.

Terms of Employment:

• Reports to: Payroll Supervisor
• Salary: $50,000
