First Grade Teacher

Position Summary

A first grade teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across core subject areas, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. In our small rural school setting, this position requires a flexible educator who can build strong relationships with students and families, and contribute positively to a close-knit school community.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in all core subject areas (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies).

• Align instruction with state standards and district curriculum.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of all students.

• Plan and deliver intervention strategies and complete progress monitoring.

• Use a variety of instructional strategies and technology to enhance student learning.

Assessment & Grading:

• Develop and administer assessments to monitor student progress.

• Provide timely, accurate grading and meaningful feedback to students.

• Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.

• Use data to inform instruction and support student growth.

Classroom Environment:

• Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.

• Implement effective classroom management strategies.

• Promote student engagement, responsibility, and respect.

Family Communication:

• Maintain regular, clear, and professional communication with families regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.

• Respond promptly to parent/guardian questions and concerns.

• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.

Collaboration & School Involvement:

• Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and administration.

• Participate in professional development and staff meetings.

• Contribute to the overall school community, including extracurricular or advisory roles as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.

• Valid state teaching license with appropriate endorsements (or willingness to obtain)

• Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.

• Commitment to working in a rural school environment and supporting a wide range of student needs.

Working Conditions
