STATUS:                       Exempt (Salaried)/260 Days

LOCATION:                  Administrative Services Center (ASC)

 

Anticipated Start Date:  January 4, 2027

SUMMARY: Provides the requisite oversight and evaluation of principals, instructional programs, safety and school operations to ensure a climate and culture that promotes student growth and achievement for all students. This position shall report directly to the Superintendent and shall serve on the Superintendent’s cabinet.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have a minimum of five (5) years secondary building administrative experience; and
  • a minimum of five (5) years of successful public school teaching experience, and
  • possess the highest personal standards, good morals, ethics, honesty, commitment and integrity,  as well as, effective skills in elementary curriculum, student discipline, communication, multitasking, and collaboration, 
  • be an approachable leader with demonstrated ability to motivate all members of faculty and staff and embrace a culture of excellence and continued improvement.
  • District level administration is desired but not required.
  • Hold or be eligible for an Indiana Superintendent License is preferred.

SUPERVISES: Elementary Administrators, Elementary programs and curriculum, Title I, Preschool, Homeless and Foster Care.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides administrative leadership in the development and coordination of school programs at the elementary level.
  • Engages in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the elementary instructional program.
  • Regularly visits schools and other program sites to observe programs in operation and assist principals and other administrators to serve most effectively as leaders; empower school sites to make decisions that directly serve their student needs.
  • Prepare programs, policies and procedures that will enhance learning, improve effectiveness, and increase efficiency in the elementary schools.
  • Serves as a member of the Superintendent’s cabinet in analyzing, developing, coordinating, and implementing new state laws, Board of Trustee policies and administrative guidelines.
  • Works with principals to review and analyze assessment data for the purpose of improving teaching and student learning.
  • Assists in writing and submitting relevant curriculum grants – Title I, School Improvement, 21st Century, and Early Intervention.
  • Prepares and administers, coordinates, and monitors the following budgets and programs: Title I, School Improvement, 21st Century, and Early Intervention.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and evaluates the Preschool program.
  • Serves as the District’s McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison and Point of Contact for Foster Care and DCS (Department of Children Services).
  • Collaborates and Coordinators the District’s Elementary High Ability Program.
  • Observes and evaluates the performance of elementary school principals, and confers and consults with them regarding their professional development.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with administrators, teachers, parents and the community as it relates to secondary education.
  • Serves as a resource person for or leader of curriculum studies and workshops.
  • Keeps informed about current trends and practices in the various subject matter fields and disseminates professional information and materials to elementary school staff.
  • Schedules and directs in-service workshops for elementary school staff.
  • Guides research, textbook selection, examination procedures, the setting of grading standards, district tests and the effective use of facilities and equipment, at the elementary school level.
  • Assists in the recruitment, screening, hiring, and assigning of secondary administrators and staff.
  • Conducts an instructional orientation program annually for new elementary school personnel.
  • Prepares and administers the elementary school education budget, exclusive of salaries.
  • Monitors elementary school account funds and requests for financial resources in those areas.
  • Works with community organizations and citizens by promoting public education through personal appearance, as appropriate.
  • Presents to the Board elementary items and policy issues related to elementary education.
  • Meets regularly with elementary administrators as a group to discuss elementary issues.
  • Monitors annual building principal goals.
  • Works with elementary district chairs in language arts and math to provide leadership and direction for corporation.
  • Cooperates with corporation Directors and technology staff development coordinator when elementary issues arise.
  • Facilitates elementary school parental concerns/issues after the building level.
  • Facilitates coordination between Elementary school Counselors.
  • Evaluates and provides leadership and direction for elementary district Special Area Teacher Leaders (art, music, physical education).
  • Problem solve and advise building administration.
  • Serve as a contact and respond to questions and concerns for administrators, employees, students, parents and community.
  • Serve as a liaison with outside legal counsel during administrative proceedings, litigation and other legal matters impacting upon the School Corporation.
  • Collaborate with the central leadership and building principals regarding investigations of alleged employee misconduct and discipline.
  • Integrates instructional programs among elementary schools; articulates curriculum between elementary grade levels including the elementary school to middle school transition.
  • Coordinates and maintains such record keeping as necessary.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. 

 

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
