Position Title: Assistant Principal – Elementary
Reports to: Elementary Principal
FSLA: Exempt
Summary of the position: Provides support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for directing assigned school programs and services at an elementary school.
Qualifications: Appropriate state certification. Demonstrated aptitude and/or abilities for performing the tasks required. Such other qualifications or academic, professional, and personal excellence as may be specified.
Supervises: Any personnel serving in the assigned school as assigned by the principal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist building principal in administration of the elementary school.
- Assume the administrative responsibility of the principal when he or she is not present in the building.
- Assist the building principal in supervising and counseling with teachers concerning teacher-teacher, teacher pupil, teacher-parent, and teacher-assignment problems.
- Participate in and, at times, conduct staff and professional meetings.
- Assist in acquiring substitute teachers.
- Assist the building principal with curriculum development and evaluation in the assigned elementary building.
- Assist the building principal with supervision and evaluation of classroom management and instructional techniques in the assigned elementary building.
- Assist the Director of Transportation in administering the school corporation’s transportation system, dealing specifically with his school on a daily basis.
- Assume any responsibilities as may be assigned.
- Promote good public relations for the School Corporation and community.
