What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scientist, Preclinical - Discovery position at Neurona Therapeutics?
Neurona Therapeutics is a clinical stage biotechnology company based in South San Francisco created to develop stem cell-based therapies for neurological diseases. We have an opening for a Preclinical Discovery Neuroscientist who will contribute to ongoing programs and build new platforms to study modulation of neural circuits and support translational development of cellular therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities
- Planning, designing, executing and analyzing patch clamp recordings studies with neurons in culture and ex-vivo brain slices
- Working with rodents including handling, dosing, surgical procedures, and tissue collection
- Perform cell culture experiments using directed neuronal differentiation from human PSCs
- Close collaboration with a cross-disciplinary teams and external groups to coordinate and drive complex in vitro and in vivo studies
- Clearly communicating results in written and oral formats. Preparing scientific presentations and manuscripts for publication
- Training and supervising research associates on preparation of samples (acute tissue brain slices)
- Developing and authoring SOPs, IACUC protocols, study protocols, reports and other
- scientific and quality documents
- PhD in neuroscience (or equivalent) with demonstrated productivity in electro-physiological research fields, minimum of 3 years of experience and a strong publication record. Level based on experience.
- Experience with optogenetics and viral vectors is a plus
- Experience with Patch-Seq is a plus
- Experience with Python, Matlab, R, or similar programming languages is a plus
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proven ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team and contribute to a
- highly collaborative environment
- High energy and passion for drug discovery and development

Salary : $120,000 - $133,000
