Kennel Assistant / Dog Handler

Neuman K-9 Academy is hiring a full-time Kennel Assistant / Dog Handler to join our professional dog training and care team. This is not a casual “play with dogs all day” position. We are a structured, fast-paced training environment where dogs are handled, exercised, and cared for to a high standard — and our team is expected to meet that same level of performance. This is a hands-on role where consistency, accountability, and attention to detail are non-negotiable.

What You’ll Do

• Provide daily care for dogs, including feeding, watering, exercise, and administering medications as directed
• Clean and maintain kennels, crates, and play areas to a high standard
• Monitor dog health, behavior, and safety, reporting concerns promptly
• Safely handle dogs during walks, structured play, and enrichment
• Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trims
• Maintain accurate daily records of care and observations

What to Expect in This Role

• On your feet for most of your shift
• Fast-paced, physically demanding work
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions (year-round)
• Handling dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels
• Some dogs may be strong, untrained, or behaviorally challenging
• Limited downtime — efficiency and time management are essential

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in animal care (kennel, veterinary clinic, shelter, or similar) preferred
• Knowledge of basic animal care and safe handling techniques
• Comfortable working with dogs of all sizes and behavior types
• Dependable — shows up on time, stays on task, and follows through
• Communicates clearly and follows direction in a team environment
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required
• Must be 18 years old

Pay & Benefits

• $18.00 – $24.00/hour (based on experience)
• Full-time: 35–45 hours/week
