Role summary
We are seeking a Technology Support Specialist to perform a variety of complex, skilled and technical work for Information Systems and technologically support staff. This position will perform a variety of technological functions, which includes the functionalities of the Local Area Computer Network (LAN), guidance,
support, consultation and training for users.
Core responsibilities
- Communicates and coordinates repairs, updates and alerts with local data processing departments and the State Department of Social Services as required.
- Assures the network and its applications are available to users.
- Be accessible to remote staff.
- Resolves user problems as required.
- Responds to a variety of inquires related to information technology operations.
- Takes corrective action as necessary to include analyzing problems.
- Resets passwords to state and local applications.
- Manages, maintains and inventories computer, electronic and telecommunications equipment.
- Serves as the local agency Security Officer for all local and state applications.
- Maintains logs or other mechanisms to track and manage request from end users for system security.
- Manages and maintains the local agency financial systems; i.e., Kinship and New World (Tyler Munis).
- Uses problem solving techniques to resolve problems which might involve any combination of operator error, or software anomaly.
- Advises and/or recommends electronic equipment which would be compatible for operations.
- Conducts new employee orientation and trains staff on state and local applications.
- Responds to federal, state and local audits.
- Implements recommendations as deemed necessary.
- Manages electronic asset purchases, tracking and disposal of capital expenses.
- Trains new employees, to include ongoing training of new processes and procedures.
- Answers complaints and track resolutions of the same.
- Completes other technical responsibilities to include the installation, operation, application and maintenance of various types of information/communications technologies and the performance of routine analysis, program designs, coding and related systems analysis task.
- Responsible for exceptional and routine operations

Education and experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Processing, or a related field required.
Some computer work experience preferred.
Some experience training personnel on the use of computers and software preferred
Requirements:
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Resolves user problems as required.
