What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Alarm Service Technician position at Network Fire & Security?
We are currently seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Service Technician who can work independently, troubleshoot efficiently, and take ownership of keeping systems operational for our customers.
As a Service Technician, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain fire alarm and related low voltage systems across a variety of commercial environments. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working directly with customers, and being the person that gets systems back online.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: (5 YEARS EXPERIENCE PREFERRED)
- Experience servicing fire alarm systems required
- Working knowledge of access control, intrusion, IP video, and related systems preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills – ability to identify and resolve system issues quickly and accurately
- Experience with system programming, testing, and diagnostics
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and system documentation
- Knowledge of NFPA codes (NFPA 70, 72, 101)
- Ability to work independently and manage service calls effectively
- Strong communication skills with customers and internal team
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights (12–32 ft or more)
- Ability to lift, move, and work in active job site environments
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma, (Two year Electronic Degree or Military Training) - Preferred
- Valid driver's license
- NICET II certifications and Michigan Fire Alarm License - Preferred
- No Felonies on background check
- Excellent customer relation skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Detail oriented
- Candidate must have strong computer skills
- Must be dependable with strong attendance and time management
- Ability to complete service documentation accurately
- Willingness to travel with occasional overnight stays
