A Hydrovac Operator is responsible for operating hydro excavation equipment to safely expose underground utilities, remove debris, and perform trenching or digging tasks using high-pressure water and vacuum systems.

A Hydrovac Operator is responsible for operating hydro excavation equipment to safely expose underground utilities, remove debris, and perform trenching or digging tasks using high-pressure water and vacuum systems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate Hydrovac trucks and equipment professionally and safely 1
- Perform hydro excavation to expose underground utilities, dig trenches, and remove debris 2
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and routine maintenance of equipment 1
- Supervise and mentor laborers or swampers on the crew 1
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, DOT regulations, and environmental standards 2
- Complete all required documentation (e.g., field tickets, inspection logs, job reports) 2
- Set up and inspect grounding/bonding procedures for safe operation 1
- Travel to various job sites and work in diverse weather conditions
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Experience: 1–2 years in vacuum excavation or related construction roles preferred Licensing: Valid Class A CDL - Manual with Tanker Endorsement
- Drug Screening: Must pass pre-employment drug test
- Proficiency in operating Hydrovac trucks and related equipment
- Understanding of water pressure and vacuum systems
- Ability to read blueprints, utility locates, and site plans
- Basic mechanical skills for minor repairs and maintenance
- Familiarity with GPS and mapping tools 2
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Attention to detail and situational awareness
- Time management and adaptability
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Commitment to safety and continuous learning
- Willingness to attend company-provided training
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to travel to job sites as needed
