What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hydro Excavator Operator position at NTI Connect LLC?
A Hydrovac Operator is responsible for operating hydro excavation equipment to safely expose underground utilities, remove debris, and perform trenching or digging tasks using high-pressure water and vacuum systems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate Hydrovac trucks and equipment professionally and safely1
- Perform hydro excavation to expose underground utilities, dig trenches, and remove debris2
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and routine maintenance of equipment1
- Supervise and mentor laborers or swampers on the crew1
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, DOT regulations, and environmental standards2
- Complete all required documentation (e.g., field tickets, inspection logs, job reports)2
- Set up and inspect grounding/bonding procedures for safe operation1
- Travel to various job sites and work in diverse weather conditions
Minimum Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Experience: 1–2 years in vacuum excavation or related construction roles preferredLicensing: Valid Class A CDL - Manual with Tanker Endorsement
- Drug Screening: Must pass pre-employment drug test
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in operating Hydrovac trucks and related equipment
- Understanding of water pressure and vacuum systems
- Ability to read blueprints, utility locates, and site plans
- Basic mechanical skills for minor repairs and maintenance
- Familiarity with GPS and mapping tools2
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities

- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs
