We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Controller to oversee all financial operations of Nets of Texas., ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management. Reporting to the Managing Directors, this role will play a critical part in supporting the company’s growth by managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, proactive leader with strong analytical skills and experience in manufacturing and construction industries.
Salary: Base plus performance bonus
Reports to the Board of Directors and to the CEO on a dotted line
Location: Houston, Texas
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections to support strategic decision-making.
- Cost Management: Analyze project pricing, costs & margins, monitor job profitability, establish operational KPIs & metrics and provide insights to optimize operational efficiency in millwork production and installation. Operational highlights and challenges.
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Audit & Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
- Contracts & Insurance – Manage risks and provide risk mitigation solutions.
- Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow planning, supply chain & procurement, accounts payable/receivable, and banking relationships to ensure liquidity and financial stability. Updated backlog and Liquidity Outlook.
- Tax & Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with US tax laws and regulations.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Support: Collaborate with senior management to provide financial insights for business expansion, capital investments, and operational strategies. Variance analysis vs. budget and prior periods
- Project Support: Deep involvement in business operations, work closely with sales, production and project managers to track financial performance of large-scale millwork projects, ensuring alignment with budgets and timelines.
- ERP Systems Expertise: Continuous process improvement and ERP implementation.
- Formal Board Meeting - agenda to include: Financial performance and KPI review Strategic updates and initiative tracking. Reforecasting (if applicable). Approval of any major decisions or capital plans. Review of risks, legal matters, and compliance. HR and organizational development updates.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY OPERATE IN THE ROLE
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation required.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5-6 years in a controller or similar role, preferably in project based, manufacturing, construction, or millwork industries.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY EXECUTE THE ABOVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills; experience with project costing and job cost accounting is an asset.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Leadership: Proven experience leading and developing finance teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the manufacturing and construction sector, including project-based financial management, is highly desirable.
- Compliance: In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- IT skills – Proficient in accounting platforms and advanced Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
