We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) care to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine care needs.
- Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Monitor patients' conditions continuously, recognizing signs of deterioration or complications such as acute pain or infectious disease symptoms.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with best practices and hospital standards.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Perform advanced procedures including suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and ventilator care when necessary.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, radiology procedures like CT scans or sonography, and wound care.
- Support discharge planning by educating patients on medication regimens, post-operative care, and follow-up appointments.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on infection control, trauma medicine protocols, or long-term care standards.
- Maintain proficiency in emergency response techniques including basic life support (BLS) and airway management during critical situations.
Skills
- Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing within hospital settings; familiarity with ICU or Level I Trauma Center environments is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and order entry.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation methods.
- Skilled in medication administration techniques including IV insertion and infusion management.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal ventilator management, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Ability to perform aseptic techniques during sterile procedures such as suturing or ostomy care.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, and familiarity with laboratory testing processes.
- Excellent critical thinking skills for triage situations and acute pain management.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients effectively.
