What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher of the Gifted/Academic Enrichment position at Neshaminy School District?
The Neshaminy School District is seeking a Teacher of the Gifted at Nehsaminy High School. This position is for 2026-2027 school year.
Salary and benefits are consistent with the NFT collective bargaining agreement, available on the Neshaminy.org website under Human Resources.
This position instructional support and specialized services that ensure gifted learners receive appropriate educational opportunities that challenge and enrich their learning in the least restrictive environment and in accordance with Pennsylvania Chapter 16 regulations. The position supports and collaborates with classroom teachers to strengthen differentiated instructional practices and promote effective learning experiences for gifted learners across educational settings. It is anticipated that this position will primarily push in to support students and assist with differentiation. Gifted teachers may be required to move between buildings if the student needs support it.
Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in Secondary Education, required
- Master’s degree in Education , Gifted Education, or related field, preferred
- Coursework and/or experience in gifted education, preferred
- Experience working with gifted and advanced learners
- Knowledge of the characteristics and needs of gifted learners
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania Chapter 16 regulations and gifted education compliance requirements
- Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices for gifted students
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and administrators to support gifted learners in the regular classroom
- Ability to differentiate curriculum, instructional materials, and learning experiences to meet the needs of gifted and advanced students
- Ability to use technology for communication, instructional planning, data analysis, and productivity
Essential job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Remain current on Pennsylvania Chapter 16 legislation, case law, and gifted education curricular, instructional, and assessment practices
- Support the gifted identification and referral process to determine student eligibility for gifted programming and services
- Prepare, implement, monitor , and evaluate Gifted Individualized Education Plans (GIEPs) in accordance with district procedures and Chapter 16 regulations
- Serve as a resource for classroom teachers by providing instructional strategies and methods that support gifted learners in the regular education setting, where gifted students are encouraged to use their strengths, take intellectual risks, and pursue advanced levels of learning
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to create a challenging, engaging, and supportive learning environment for gifted and advanced students
- Develop and implement flexible, individualized, and enriching curriculum experiences that meet the unique needs of gifted learners while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
- Design and/or select appropriate instructional modifications and enrichment opportunities for gifted and advanced students and coordinate these efforts with classroom teachers and related staff
- Analyze student performance data and assessment results to support instructional planning and monitor student growth
- Maintain appropriate records , reports, and documentation related to gifted education services and compliance requirements
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, administrators, and outside agencies regarding gifted student needs, programming, and progress
- Participate in professional development activities related to gifted education and instructional best practices
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration
Applicants must be in good standing with Act 48 credits. Neshaminy School District requires a valid Child Abuse Clearance, FBI clearance, PA State Police Criminal Check, and completed Act 168 forms for all employees before they may begin work.
