Job Title: Cost Accountant

Overview:
Assist the Controller in providing support to our several manufacturing sites in areas relating to variance analysis, work order management, inventory, process improvement, and several other cost-related topics.
Responsibilities:
- Adherence to the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close process and timeline.
- Reviewing/updating entries to the general ledger.
- Account reconciliation and analysis related to inventory reconciliation and cost of goods sold accounts.
- Ensuring the accuracy and reconciliation of the project cost ledger to the balance sheet, including the accuracy of materials, labor, other direct costs, and associated indirect costs.
- Completing the Excess & Obsolete process on a quarterly basis.
- Working closely with Business Management, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Program Management, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to provide cost accounting support and resolve issues on cost and inventory.
- Coordinating period-end close processes.
- Providing analysis and reporting for labor productivity and manufacturing variances.
- Developing tracking reports and analytics to help identify opportunities.
- Development and monitoring of plant metrics
- Streamlining processes and realizing efficiency gains
- Supporting Supply Chain initiatives related to product costing
- Assisting in the development and implementation of training programs.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience required, with at least 4 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing company.
- Strong Excel skills are required.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
- Understanding of Project Accounting
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Costpoint
- Project costing in a government contracting environment and familiarity with government contract accounting compliance requirements (e.g., FAR, CAS) is strongly desired.
