Maintenance Technician - Part-Time

The Maintenance Generalist plays a key role in ensuring that all district facilities are safe, well-maintained, and supportive of student learning. This position performs a variety of hands-on maintenance tasks—ranging from replacing light bulbs and ceiling tiles to assisting with minor repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.

This role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety. The Maintenance Generalist helps keep classrooms and common areas operational so students and staff can focus on teaching and learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as:

  • Replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and filters

  • Repairing or adjusting doors, locks, and hardware

  • Painting, patching, and other minor carpentry work

  • Basic plumbing repairs (toilets, faucets, drains)

  • Assisting HVAC staff with filter changes or minor adjustments

• Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely manner, ensuring tasks are completed to district standards.

• Identify and report safety hazards; take immediate action when appropriate.

• Assist in seasonal tasks such as snow/ice removal, grounds upkeep, and event setups.

• Operate district vehicles, lifts, and maintenance equipment safely.

• Maintain accurate records of work performed.

• Follow all district safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and manufacturer instructions.

• Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with students, staff, vendors, and the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Prior general maintenance, construction, or facilities experience preferred.

• Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in a variety of environments (indoors/outdoors, hot/cold).

• Valid driver’s license required.
