JOB CLASSIFICATION:           Grade G

SKILL CLASSIFICATION:        Custodian

NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:

Ensure cleanliness of assigned areas, operation of lights and other daily use items as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Clean halls, rooms, corridors and other areas as assigned.

2. Be punctual and reliable.

3. Mop and disinfect lavatory floors, clean and disinfect toilets, urinals and sinks.

4. Wash doors, windows, mirrors, etc. as assigned.

5. Empty refuse containers as assigned.

6. Report major repair needs promptly to the building supervisor or the Director of Operations.

7. Report any damage or vandalism to the building supervisor or the Director of Operations.

8. Perform minor maintenance repairs and upkeep tasks (ex. Replacement of light bulbs).

9. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations, building supervisor or superintendent.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to safely lift and carry 50 pounds at least 100 feet.
2. Tolerance of cold weather.
3. Ability to stoop, stand, walk, crouch, raise arms over head, lift weight over head.
4. Ability to work in small places.
5. Ability to grasp and manipulate cleaning tools (mop, broom, vacuum, etc.).
6. Ability to work variable hours.

 ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

1. Occasional exposure to weather extremes.
2. Occasional exposure to loud noises.
3. Some work to be accomplished in small or cramped spaces.
4. Variable hours depending upon facility needs.
5. Exposure to water, soap and various cleaning solutions.

 KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and MENTAL ABILITY

1. Trustworthy and dependable, with aptitude or competence in assigned responsibilities.

EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION or FORMAL TRAINING

1. High school diploma preferred.
2. Skill in use of cleaning equipment and common cleaning solutions.
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

3. Power Cleaning Tools (Ex. Vacuum, carpet cleaner, etc.).
