Position Overview:
The Business Unit Manager oversees the manufacturing plant’s Fabrication processes and adds improvements to ensure strategic and production goals are met.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide leadership and direction to plant supervisors and production team members in order to meet plant production, quality and cost metrics while ensuring a safe working environment
- Maintain and coordinate production schedules and manage headcount requirements
- Supervise and develop Supervisors and Team Leads; complete performance reviews, identify personnel and overtime requirements, staffing resolutions and addressing employee concerns, including consistent policy application
- Interact effectively with Customers for production needs
- Partnership with safety leadership to ensure a safe workplace
- Recommend, drive and support Continuous Improvement projects
- Provide leadership with production and financial information as requested to ensure the plant meets goals, metrics and business needs
- Other responsibilities and projects as assigned
Required Education & Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel, from leadership to shop floor employees
- Microsoft Office - Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Internet proficiency required
- Strong time-management skills, including organization and prioritization
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated with a strong ability to support and motivate others as part of a team
- Ability to work well under pressure and proven ability to meet deadlines
- Adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and excellent self-management skills
