Neel-Schaffer has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join our growing transportation structures team. Travel may be required on a temporary basis as project locations change.
The ideal candidate will have at least fifteen years of bridge inspection experience, including demonstrated success leading field inspection teams and delivering bridge inspection services for transportation clients. This role will involve planning and performing bridge inspections, supervising staff, coordinating access and traffic control needs, preparing and reviewing inspection documentation and reports, and working closely with project managers and clients to support successful project delivery. The selected candidate should be comfortable working in both field and office settings and have strong knowledge of bridge components, deterioration mechanisms, inspection procedures, and applicable NBIS and client-specific requirements. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects while helping maintain quality, safety, and technical excellence across the inspection program.

Minimum Requirements
- 15 years of bridge inspection and/or transportation structure inspection experience, with demonstrated experience leading field teams and delivering bridge inspection assignments
- Must meet or be able to meet applicable NBIS Team Leader qualifications and maintain required training and refresher requirements
- Strong working knowledge of bridge inspection procedures, structural elements, common deterioration mechanisms, documentation practices, and applicable DOT/FHWA requirements
- Experience leading inspection crews, coordinating traffic control and access needs, and maintaining a safe and efficient field operation
- Ability to review inspection notes, photographs, quantities, and reports for quality, accuracy, and completeness
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and inspection documentation tools
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed for project assignments
- The following certifications are preferred:
- FHWA-approved comprehensive bridge inspection training and applicable refresher training
- State DOT bridge inspection team leader approval, where applicable
- Nonredundant Steel Tension Member (NSTM) inspection training or certification
- Underwater, rope access, snooper truck, or other specialized access/inspection training, as applicable
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure is a plus
