Needs More Work Productions and their spicy, bold, and colorful ensemble are proud to celebrate the release of The Anti-Album at 54 Below! Featuring music from the beloved Anti-Gone (“Best Tragedy,” NYC Fringe Festival), come hear your favorite haunting harmonies and mystical melodies from this award-winning spin on the classic play. Directed and produced by Sivan Raz, The Anti-Album Release Concert is an evening of spellbinding theatrical folk sung by NYC’s best and brightest. Featuring exclusive orchestrations to original songs from The Bacchae as well as musical theater favorites from Hadestown, The Frogs, and The Golden Apple, mythology’s greatest heroes come to life in this one-night-only spectacle. Join us on a journey to the very origins of Western theater, and celebrate how far we’ve come since!

We are seeking versatile and passionate singers to create a spellbinding night of acapella theatrical folk. Comfortability with complex harmonies and the ability to learn music independently is a must.

This event functions as a fundraiser for our mainstage activism-based programming. We are looking for performers who are willing to volunteer their time to support indie, BIPOC, Trans, Disabled and Immigrant led theater. Not you? We are also seeking a dependable Music Director to lightly supervise our 12 acapella numbers, as well as accompany 6 additional songs with sheet music/chords. We are offering a stipend of $100 USD for the Music Director position.

Specializing in site specific and immersive shows, we perform unique adaptations of beloved classics in New York City. Needs More Work Productions’ shows center themes of social activism, creating thought-provoking conversations directly between audience members and performers.

Submission Instructions

Please prepare two contrasting 16-32 bar cuts of either musical theater or popular music (folk preferred) that best represent your vocal and acting prowess. Please play your accompaniment on a separate device, acapella videos will not be considered.

Please fill out this audition form to submit your video audition. Make sure your video audition is NOT password protected and that we have the permission to view it (Youtube links are preferred).
