Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Construction Engineering Manager. The position will be located in the New Generation Construction Trailer currrently located on-site at Sheldon Station. Position closes August 10, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

Position Summary

This position is accountable for providing project and technical engineering support to the New Construction team. Support areas include design, configuration control, scheduling, contractor coordination, analysis of design issues, primary cost budgeting, and technical studies involving proposed and active construction projects. The support will be supplied safely and with excellent customer service.

Education, Training and Experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or business is required.

Engineering experience at a power plant preferred.

Prior Related Experience

Ten years of professional level technical experience in commercial power stations or large industrial facilities is required.

Engineering experience or familiarity with engineering processes and terminology is preferred.

Other work experience or demonstrated performance indicating that the applicant has the skills and ability to perform the duties of the position may be substituted for the specified years of experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Working manager who acts as a primary technical interface with internal teams and contract companies either constructing or planning construction of new generation facilities or major assets.

Provides effective technical support to New Construction, ensuring NPPD requirements are accurately transcribed into design documents. Prioritizes reliability and resiliency within new facility/asset design while maintaining cost effectiveness. Ensures sufficient information is obtained from contractors to establish design bases.

Manages a team of New Construction Engineers. Supports continuous personal development for their employees through career planning, coaching, training, and counseling. Is responsible for managerial activities including, but not limited to, hiring, performance management, disciplinary action, and salary administration.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

Pay Grade - 16

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $10,819.00 - $13,794.00

Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.

Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary listed in posting, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.

Retirement Savings

NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
