Independent contractor opportunity. We're a small Lakewood operation looking to add a contractor or two to our team this summer!

About us

Neat House Cleaning has been serving the Lakewood area for years, and we've grown the whole business on client referrals — which means our routes are stable, our clients tend to stay with us, and the people we contract with know weeks in advance where they'll be working. We clean residential homes on monthly, biweekly, or weekly schedules in Arvada, Aurora, Golden, Denver, Englewood, Lakewood, Littleton, and Wheat Ridge.

We're a small operation and we like it that way. Our owner answers her own phone, knows every contractor by name, and is the person you'll actually talk to when questions come up about scope, scheduling, or a particular client. We work hard to make this a business contractors want to keep coming back to, and we measure that by how long our cleaners stay with us.

Compensation structure

• Initial orientation period: $25/hour while you learn our client standards and become familiar with each home (typically 2–4 weeks)
• After orientation: 50% of each job's contract value, plus 100% of tips
• Contractors set their own pace within each job, and most established contractors earn the equivalent of $25–$40 per hour once they're working efficiently
• Payment is per job completed, on a regular pay schedule
• Scheduled raise after 3 months of hire.

What we provide

• Cleaning products and equipment for you to use to start (if you don't have your own)
• Paid orientation with the owner to learn each client's standards and home
• Access to an established residential client base . You walk into existing relationships, not cold ones
• Scheduling and client coordination so you can focus on the work itself
• Guidance on obtaining General Liability insurance if you don't already carry it

What you bring as an independent contractor

• Your own reliable vehicle and the ability to travel to client homes
• Your own judgment about how to complete each job within the client's stated standards
• Responsibility for your own self-employment taxes and business setup. We can point you to resources if 1099 work is new to you

• People who prefer working independently in homes rather than as part of a crew
• People who genuinely enjoy pets — most of our clients have them!
• People who take pride in their work and have their own standards for quality
• People who communicate clearly and on time
• People who prefer a reliable schedule and working with the same clients month after month.
• People comfortable using Google Calendar, Sheets, and Docs for scheduling and coordination

A few other things to know

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to client homes
• Ability to lift 20 lbs and handle the physical work of residential cleaning
• Willingness to pass a background check
• Available during typical client hours (Monday–Friday, 9a-5p)
• Must be able to provide a General Liability certificate of insurance within 6 months of beginning contract work with us (we'll help you sort this out)
• Must be able to interview in person in Lakewood, CO
