JOB SUMMARY: The FNRL Special Projects Assistant Manager supports the implementation of special projects associated with the Future Natural Resource Leaders (FNRL) program. Under the direction of the FNRL Special Projects Manager, this position assists with coordination, logistics, student engagement, and on-site support for projects funded through the Thriving Communities grant and related FNRL initiatives. The role focuses on operational support, supervision, and execution of project activities aligned with forestry education, land stewardship, accessibility, and community resiliency goals.

  • Assist the FNRL Special Projects Manager in implementing Thriving Communities grant–funded projects in accordance with the approved project work plan, timelines, and output targets.
  • Support coordination of project logistics, scheduling, and on-site activities related to forestry management, land stewardship, and accessibility projects.
  • Assist with organizing and supervising student, staff, and volunteer participation in hands-on forestry and natural resource activities.
  • Provide on-site support for fuel reduction, invasive species removal, replanting, and biodiversity enhancement projects at designated work sites.
  • Assist in planning and supporting High School FNRL Career Development Events (CDEs), including setup, supervision, and coordination with partners.
  • Support elementary and middle school forestry and environmental education events in partnership with community organizations and district staff.
  • Assist with work-based learning activities that build forestry skills through field measurements, planting, trail maintenance, and environmental analysis.
  • Support development and maintenance of school and community trail networks, including assistance with signage, guides, and accessibility features.
  • Assist with projects related to emergency preparedness and disaster resiliency, including maintenance of accessible emergency evacuation pathways.
  • Help track participation hours, activities completed, and materials used to support grant documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with the FNRL Special Projects Manager regarding project progress, needs, and challenges.
  • Support adherence to District policies, safety expectations, and grant requirements during all project activities.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement, leadership development, and community involvement.
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance as defined in District policy and regulations.


MARGINAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Prepare and organize materials, tools, and supplies needed for project activities.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of project sites and event locations.
  • Support supervision of special events, field work days, and site visits related to FNRL special projects.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform the job successfully an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.

  • Demonstrated successful experience working in a variety of settings with high school age students.
  • Possess knowledge of, and familiarity with various high school activities and extra-curricular functions
  • Ability to work non-standard work hours to meet needs of students and programs may be required.
  • Valid First Aid Card
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance

EVALUATION:

The performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principal/Assistant Principal
