CNC Manufacturing Process Engineer

NE-XT USA
Windsor, CT Other
POSTED ON 8/5/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/4/2026
A day in the life

You start your morning reviewing an overnight 5-axis run. Vericut simulations matched reality, but you still scan first-article measurements to confirm GD&T callouts. By mid-morning, you’re collaborating with design on a DFM review—tweaking chamfers and tolerances so the part runs lights-out on a mill-turn. After lunch, you lead a quick Kaizen huddle on a cell that’s struggling with setup time. By day’s end, you’ve updated toolpaths in NX/Esprit, issued a new setup sheet, and coached an operator on probing macros to lock in repeatability.

Impact you’ll make

Build, refine, and sustain multi-axis CNC processes that are safe, capable, and cost-effective—supporting production goals, elevating quality, and accelerating continuous improvement across the shop.

What you’ll do
  • Design and launch robust CNC machining workflows, including tooling, fixturing, and programs for multi-axis equipment.
  • Author and optimize CAD/CAM programs (SolidWorks CAD with Esprit or NX CAM), validating with simulation tools like Vericut to meet print and quality standards.
  • Analyze routings and cycle times, removing waste and reducing variability through Lean methods.
  • Partner with design engineering to ensure manufacturability; provide DFM guidance early in the design cycle.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause investigations; implement corrective and preventive actions that stick.
  • Evaluate and recommend machines, tooling, and new technologies aligned to production needs.
  • Create and maintain process documentation: work instructions, setup sheets, and SOPs.
  • Train and mentor operators and technicians on best practices, probing, macros, and quality expectations.
  • Drive 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives to elevate safety, flow, and consistency.
  • Ensure every process adheres to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
What you bring
  • 5 years in CNC machining and process engineering.
  • Deep hands-on capability in CNC programming, setup, and operation, including probing and macro programming.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM (SolidWorks CAD, Esprit CAM, NX CAM or equivalent) and simulation (Vericut).
  • Expertise in multi-axis machining: 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and multi-axis mill-turn lathes.
  • Strong command of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and blueprint interpretation.
  • Fluency with metrology and common measurement systems.
  • Applied Lean Manufacturing and process optimization experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Clear communicator and team collaborator across design, machining, and quality.
Bonus points
  • Bachelor’s in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or related.
  • PC-DMIS CMM programming and/or automation engineering experience.
  • Background in firearms manufacturing.
  • ERP/MRP familiarity (Epicor preferred) for planning and execution.
  • Certifications or frameworks: Six Sigma Green Belt, AS9100, ISO 9001 exposure.
Machines & technologies you’ll use
  • CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) (Makino, Haas, Okuma)
  • CAM Software (Mastercam, Siemens NX, Esprit)
  • CNC Mill (5 axis VMC) (Haas, Okuma, Dmg Mori Seiki)
