Duties
- Assist in organizing and leading softball practices, drills, and training sessions tailored to various skill levels
- Support the head coach in game-day preparations, strategies, and player management
- Mentor players on technical skills such as batting, fielding, pitching, and base running
- Promote a safe environment by enforcing safety protocols and supervising activities during practices and games
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and staff to ensure clear understanding of team goals and schedules
- Help with equipment setup, maintenance, and inventory management for practices and games
- Foster a positive team culture by encouraging sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork among players
Requirements
- Previous experience in softball coaching or playing at a competitive level is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of softball rules, techniques, and strategies
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff
- Ability to work well with children of diverse ages and skill levels
- Experience working with youth or in childcare settings is highly desirable
- First aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire (AED operation knowledge is a plus)
- Background in sports-specific training instruction such as soccer coaching or basketball is advantageous
- Enthusiasm for teaching physical education and promoting healthy activity habits
- Ability to manage behavior positively while maintaining discipline during activities
- Prior experience with sports team leadership or coaching certifications related to softball or other sports is beneficial
