The Park Rapids High School Fine Arts department is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Co Assistant Speech Coach for the upcoming seasonal speech competition program at Park Rapids High School. - Assist the head speech coach in planning and executing practice sessions and workshops.
- Provide individualized coaching to students in various speech categories, including but not limited to, dramatic interpretation, humorous interpretation, and original oratory.
- Help develop and refine students’ speech content, delivery techniques, and performance skills.
- Collaborate with the head coach to organize and manage team meetings, practices, and competitions.
- Attend and support students at local, regional, and state speech competitions.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages student participation and growth.
- Maintain communication with students and parents regarding schedules, expectations, and performance updates.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to the speech program, including record-keeping and competition registration.
Requirements
- Previous experience in speech, debate, or competitive performance is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with students and colleagues.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and encouragement to students.
- A commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all team members.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during the competition season.
- A background in education, theater, or communications is a plus.
- Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
